PUC CANCELS HILO PUBLIC HEARING IN ANTICIPATION OF SEVERE WEATHER

New Date Forthcoming for Hawaiian Electric's Rebasing Proposal Hearing in Hilo

HONOLULU - The Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission has canceled the public hearing for Hawaiian Electric's rebasing proposal, due to anticipated severe weather conditions from Tropical Storm Nolo. The in-person public hearing had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at Hawaiʻi Community College, Building 389, Rooms 101 and 102.

The safety of our communities remains our top priority. The commission will reschedule the hearing for a future date once conditions stabilize. Updated information will be shared when details are finalized.

Members of the public can continue to submit written public comments on the company's proposal by referencing Docket No. 2026-0162. More information on the company's proposal and instructions on how to submit comments are on the commission's website .
