The community has two opportunities to get outside and enjoy parks on Saturday, March 28, with events happening at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge and Hillside Park.
Families are invited to celebrate the outdoors at Nature Con from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, 9601 Fossil Ridge Road.
This annual event features hands-on activities and outdoor adventures for all ages, including hayrides and canoe excursions ($5 per person), a discovery trail for kids, educational talks, wildlife and plant demonstrations, conservation exhibitors and food trucks.
Located on more than 3,600 acres of forests, prairies and wetlands, the refuge offers a unique opportunity to explore nature while learning about local ecosystems and conservation. Regular refuge admission applies. Learn more at https://www.fwnaturecenter.org.
Residents are invited to celebrate the grand opening of a new street soccer field at Hillside Park, 1201 E. Maddox Ave.
The field was created through a partnership between Park & Recreation and Street Soccer USA, with support from Visa and Bank of America. The converted tennis court now features artificial turf and built-in goals and will host organized programming while remaining open for free play.
Grand opening schedule
Registration: 11 a.m.-noon
Ceremony: 12:30-1 p.m.
Games and refreshments: 1-3 p.m.

Volunteers (ages 18 and older) are needed to help support the street soccer event. Opportunities include assisting with event setup and breakdown, serving food, helping with games and activities and supporting event operations throughout the celebration. Register to volunteer here.
