Legislative Lame Duck Session will bring lawmakers back to the State Capitol for four days, before the new term of the 104th General Assembly begins.
Lame Duck session was opposed by the House Minority Leader Tony McCombie and House Republicans for the historically poor public policy it produces, the little transparency it serves Illinois taxpayers, and the rushed process in which it is brought forward. McCombie released the following statement to emphasize that sentiment:
"We do not need more time for out-of-touch Democrats to dream up harmful legislation. We need bipartisan legislation that focuses on the issues Illinois families care about most. Until the Democrat majority can get their priorities in order, the House Republicans oppose a Lame Duck session."
Despite that opposition, the Democratic majority scheduled Lame Duck session to begin today: Saturday, January 4th. The session days will be streamed online at ilga.gov.
