The Bellflower City Council recently adopted the2025-27 Strategic Plancentered around five overarching goals aimed at promoting effective governance, setting clear organizational priorities, establishing success benchmarks and unifying the City's direction. In alignment with Goal 3 - Continue Investing in a High-Performing and Efficient Team at City Hall- the City of Bellflower is proud to highlight Dakota Wallace, who was recently promoted to Management Analyst I.
With nearly a decade of dedicated service to Bellflower, Dakota brings a strong background in public service, a passion for government transparency and a deep commitment to community engagement.
Dakota began her career with the City of Bellflower in 2016 as a Recreation Leader in the Parks and Recreation Department before advancing to Program Coordinator at Simms Park, where she helped facilitate various community programs and services. In 2021, she transitioned to the City Clerk's Office, where she continues to play an essential role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the City's legislative and records management processes.
Born and raised in the Lakewood/Bellflower area and proud graduate of the Bellflower Unified School District, Dakota earned her bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in education and literature from California State University, Long Beach and holds a professional certificate in management from the University of Notre Dame. In 2023, she earned the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, a reflection of her dedication to excellence in municipal administration.
As part of the City Clerk's Office, Dakota oversees the City's Records Management Program, which includes preserving vital records, coordinating the legal destruction of obsolete documents and maintaining the City's records retention schedule in accordance with applicable laws and best practices. She also supports municipal elections, council meeting administration and the management of official contracts and legislative documentation. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it serves as the backbone of transparent governance and public accessibility.
When asked about her favorite aspect of the job, Dakota shared that she most enjoys supporting the public, fellow staff members, City Council Members and Commissioners. She finds fulfillment in managing City Council meetings, where she gets to witness and contribute to the legislative process in action.
Outside of work, Dakota enjoys spending quality time with her family, whether on the baseball field, taking walks, or watching Notre Dame football. She is the proud mother of two young boys and is currently expecting her third son in March 2026.
Dakota's professional journey is a testament to hard work, continued growth and a deep-rooted connection to the Bellflower community.
