Scam Alert: Stay Safe from Parking Payment Scams
The City was recently made aware of a possible scam at on-street parking meters in Downtown Raleigh involving the use of QR codes.
When parking downtown:
- Please use the parking meter or the official Passport parking app.
- Do not scan QR codes, as they may have been placed by scammers.
These QR codes may be designed to trick you into clicking on malicious links or providing personal and financial information.
The only time the City uses QR codes related to parking is on violations and SkiData tickets for the parking garages.
City staff are in the process of inspecting all meters in the area.
