No Traffic Controls & Pass Updates

Alpine County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not conduct traffic controls in Alpine County next week.

State Routes 4 & 89

  • The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily close State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) at the State Route 4/89 Junction, for increment weather as of 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026. Caltrans maintenance crews will evaluate the roadway next week after the storm and determine when to safely reopen the highway to the traveling public.
  • The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will move the westbound closure of State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) from Raymond Meadows to the SR-4/89 Junction for increment weather as of 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026. Caltrans maintenance crews will evaluate the roadway next week after the storm and determine when to relocate the westbound closure back to the Raymond Meadows closure gate.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
