Opening of the Water Diplomacy Center

On November 12, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, took part and delivered opening remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the «Water Diplomacy Center» under the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The establishment of this Center is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the first initiative of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, in the field of water resources, in particular, the proclamation of «2003 - the International Year of Freshwater», which was unanimously adopted at the 55th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2000.

In his remarks, Sirojiddin Muhriddin emphasized the importance of the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, in advancing the global water agenda and promoting water diplomacy. He underlined that the establishment of such a Center, with a focus on scientific and educational activities is important and timely.

In addition, it was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan as a global leader in water issues, intends with the support of the United Nations and international partners to establish an "International Water Center" in Republic of Tajikistan in the near future. Therefore, the inauguration of today's institution serves as a foundation for the implementation of the mentioned initiative.
