March 6 Tornado Update; Free Greenwaste Pickup, Dump Pass Available for Affected Area

3/10/2026

The City of Tulsa has moved into recovery efforts following the March 6 EF-1 tornado in North Tulsa.

While localized damage occurred, thankfully no injuries were reported.

Impacts are largely limited to private homes and businesses. The City's Parks and Public Works departments conducted an initial response and all impacts to City infrastructure and roadways have been largely resolved at this time.

Tulsans are asked to stay weather aware tonight ahead of the potential for additional storms.

Damage UpdateThe damage zone encompasses the boundaries of E. 54th St. N. to the north; the northernmost portion of the Gilcrease Expressway to the south; N. Lewis Ave. to the east; and N. Hartford Ave. to the west. A map of the area can be found online at: https://www.cityoftulsa.org/weather

Primary impacts to this area include damage to private structures and businesses. Damage to some homes occurred, which consisted mostly of roof and car damage, as well as some tree damage.

Greenwaste Pickup
The City of Tulsa will be conducting specialized greenwaste collection for residents impacted by the March 6 tornado. To receive collection, affected residents must be located within the affected damage zone and contact 311 to receive service.

See the zone online at: https://www.cityoftulsa.org/weather

Citizens residing within this zone should contact 311 to schedule a pickup in one of the following ways:

To ensure collection, all greenwaste must be separated from other household trash and storm debris (storm debris can be handled separately via a free dump pass voucher - more below). Items such as tree stumps, roofing materials, and other trash are not eligible for this service and should not be included.

Residents scheduled for greenwaste pickup are reminded to place their greenwaste at the curb (not in the street), ensuring it is at least four feet away from other objects. All greenwaste must be cut into five-foot lengths. To prevent damage to infrastructure and ensure safety, greenwaste must not be placed on top of water meters, near fences, or under low-hanging power lines.

Households are limited to one greenwaste pickup and/or one storm debris dump pass.

Storm Debris Dump Pass
In addition to greenwaste pickup, residents in the affected area may request one free dump pass by contacting 311. Following a request, City representatives will visit the property to verify that the debris is directly related to storm damage, such as roofing materials or fencing.

If approved, residents will be responsible for delivering the debris to the location(s) specified on the dump pass or by 311.

Emergency Repair Grants
For those with storm damage, emergency repair grants may be available for qualifying households who meet income criteria. The emergency repair program provides home repairs for owner-occupied households located in Tulsa city limits. Eligible repairs include items that may pose an immediate threat to the health and safety of the occupants, such as items related to electrical, security (doors and windows), roofs, and heating.

This is a grant program and is not required to be repaid.

Financial Empowerment Resources
Tulsans can receive free financial counseling through the Tulsa Financial Empowerment Center (FEC). Tulsans with storm damage can receive professional financial counseling to help them better manage the costs of recovery and navigate the complex paperwork of assistance programs, such as Emergency Repair Grants and other available financial resources available to them.
