The Ministry of Defence announced that a tactical exercise of a force protection platoon was conducted at the Borovac training ground and the South base, during which the unit's readiness for the forthcoming deployment in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon was assessed.
During several days of activities, members of this unit, part of the Training Command, carried out tactical tasks that they may encounter during engagement in the peacekeeping operation, where they will be responsible for securing one of the United Nations peacekeeping bases.
The unit's level of training, discipline and interoperability was assessed by a team from the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, and the achieved results showed that the platoon met the prescribed standards and is fully trained, equipped and ready to perform tasks in an international environment.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in Lebanon since 2014, and this United Nations peacekeeping operation currently also includes an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces, staff officers and a team of specialists tasked with supporting the Serbian contingent, the statement said.
