Licensure Requirements for NJ Participating Behavior Analysts

The information below outlines Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) licensure requirements for recredentialing and initial enrollment with Horizon BCBSNJ and Horizon NJ Health.

Recredentialing

Effective February 1, 2027, LBA licensure will be required for recredentialing.

  • As stated in our recredentialing policy, in order to be recredentialed, the physician or healthcare professional "shall demonstrate that he/she continues to meet all requirements for credentialing, and the satisfaction of the requirements are primary source verified as outlined in the Standards for Participation section of this policy."
  • If you currently do not have an LBA license number, we will not be able to perform the primary source verification required to complete your recredentialing. If you have already obtained an LBA, or when you obtain it, please:
    • Update the license number on your CAQH profile.
    • Re-attest your information.

Initial Enrollment

LBA licensure became required for all new applications to participate in our networks received on and after September 1, 2026.
