Statement from TechNet CEO Linda Moore in Response to the Supreme Court Ruling on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act

Washington, D.C. - TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of tech industry CEOs and senior executives, today released the following statement from President and CEO Linda Moore in response to the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the delegation of executive authorities under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

"Today's decision reaffirms the value of clear statutory authority and predictable trade policies that provide certainty for American businesses, and the need for Congress to play a role in this process. The United States is the global leader in developing and deploying innovative technologies, and the tech sector is central to our competitiveness and future growth. As policymakers respond to this ruling, the administration and Congress should seize this moment to advance a positive, pro-growth trade agenda that opens markets, strengthens supply chains, reinforces U.S. economic leadership, and combats discriminatory actions targeting American companies.

"Businesses depend on predictable and consistent trade rules to make long-term investments, compete globally, and deliver value to American consumers and workers. With this in mind, I encourage the administration to work with Congress to deliver this to the American public.

"At the same time, the U.S. must stand firmly against discriminatory measures that target American firms, including digital services taxes. TechNet urges the administration and Congress to continue taking actions that advance U.S. interests in the rules-based global trading system by advancing comprehensive trade agreements with strong digital trade provisions, modernizing customs processes to support e-commerce and small businesses, restoring certainty in tariff policy, and pursuing balanced export controls that protect national security while enabling American innovation to compete globally."
