In April, a terror attack in Golders Green saw the attempted murder of two Jewish Londoners.
The London Assembly unequivocally condemns this attack and all acts of antisemitism, hatred and intimidation aimed at Jewish Londoners.
The Assembly has today made clear its full solidarity with London's Jewish community, and its support for continued work between the Mayor, the Met, local authorities and community organisations to tackle hate crime and ensure Jewish Londoners feel safe, supported and welcome in London.
Susan Hall AM, who proposed the motion, said:
"The Golders Green attack struck fear into the heart of Britain's Jewish Community and other Londoners.
"I want to thank the brave officers who intervened to stop the attacker, as well as the bravery of the Jewish community in their resilience to the insidious evil they face in the form of antisemitism.
"We must do more to support British Jews, but I hope that this motion goes some way to conveying the strength of feeling here at City Hall."
The full text of the motion is:
"This Assembly unequivocally condemns the attempted murder of two Jewish Londoners in Golders Green on 29th April, along with all acts of antisemitism, hatred, intimidation, and violence directed at Jewish Londoners. This Assembly believes that every Londoner should be able to live, work, travel, and worship free from fear and abuse.
This Assembly welcomes the swift response of the Metropolitan Police Service and emergency services following the incident in Golders Green, and praises the professionalism and dedication shown by officers in protecting the public and pursuing those responsible.
This Assembly stands in full solidarity with London's Jewish community and reaffirms that antisemitism has absolutely no place in our city.
