‘Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT’ to premiere new episode on April 10

BOZEMAN - A new episode of "Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT" will air on Montana PBS at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10.

The episode focuses on insurance lapses for Montanans with eating disorders and the voting records of members of the same families serving in the Legislature.

More than 15 years ago, the federal government passed a law requiring many insurers to cover mental health care in the same way medical and surgical care is covered, a concept known as parity. However, government investigators have repeatedly found insurance companies aren't abiding by the law. IMPACT will examine what this means for patients with eating disorders in Montana, a state that is in the top five in the nation for eating disorder insurance claims.

In addition, the state's citizen Legislature comprises 150 Montanans from distinct districts. This session, nearly 10% of them are serving alongside a spouse, sibling or other family member. IMPACT will take a look at the seven sets of families to see if their voting records are also closely related.

"Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT" is a news and public affairs program that provides in-depth reporting on issues important to Montanans. For more details, visit https://mtpbsreports.org/.
