Mihai Popșoi discussed regional security and Moldova–U.S. cooperation opportunities at the White House

4 December 2025, Washington, D.C. - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, together with the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, held a meeting at the White House with Deputy National Security Advisor Andy Baker, Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the National Security Council Charles McLaughlin, and Director for Europe at the National Security Council Sarah Beebe.

The discussions focused on security and defense cooperation, strengthening institutional resilience, and addressing the challenges facing the Republic of Moldova in the context of regional developments. According to Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, despite ongoing pressures, the authorities in Chișinău have managed to maintain peace and prevent any attempts at destabilization.

"Thanks to the consistent support of our international partners, the Republic of Moldova has become more prepared and resilient. Today, our country is a reliable partner and an important actor in maintaining regional security," Mihai Popșoi stated.

Another topic of the meeting was cooperation in energy security, including opportunities for U.S. investment in the energy sector-an essential element for Moldova's energy independence and economic stability.
