Summary of submissions: Decentralisation green paper – meeting the future needs of New Zealanders

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has published a summary of the 63 submissions received on its decentralisation green paper, Working together to ensure our electricity system meets the future needs of all New Zealanders.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on decentralisation and the future of our energy system. We saw a fantastic range of submissions from across the energy sector.

Over the coming months the Electricity Authority will build on the foundations laid through the green paper by:

  • Strengthening the relationships developed over the past 6 months and starting to address engagement gaps
  • Continuing to identify relevant initiatives, insights and learnings within NZ and internationally to inform our strategy and work programmes
  • Undertaking a gap analysis and as appropriate collaborate with other government organisations (and beyond) to maintain a cohesive approach to unlocking the benefits of decentralisation for consumers
  • Continuing to embed findings into our strategy and existing work programmes.

As we look to the future of our energy system, we want to make sure that we hear from all our stakeholders. If you'd still like to provide your feedback on this paper, please get in touch at [email protected]
