Better regulation to unleash innovation and productivity through Australia’s boardrooms

The AICD is calling on the next parliament to adopt a bold reform agenda within its first 100 days-better regulation and a contemporary approach to digital governance and disclosures to drive a revival in productivity and innovation, and a better economic future for all Australians.

Our 3-point plan:

Better regulation, including:

  • 12-month freeze on new regulation (unless critically necessary)
  • A Minister for Better Regulation
  • Expansion of the Financial Services Regulatory Grid

Better digital governance, including:

o De-identification of directors' personal information on companies registers

  • Urgent clarification of data retention laws
  • Fund cyber resilience support for not-for-profit organisations

Better targeted disclosures:

  • Streamline Mandatory Climate Reporting requirements
  • Refocus Modern Slavery reporting for real impact
  • Raise corporate reporting thresholds to reflect today's economy
