Marion County Honors the Heart of Our Community: Family Caregivers

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed November 2025 as Family Caregivers Appreciation Month, recognizing the dedication, compassion, and selfless care of family caregivers across the county.

Family caregivers provide vital support to young children, aging parents, adults with disabilities, and others in need. Their contributions often include physical, emotional, and financial support, help with medical care, and assistance with daily household responsibilities and transportation. These efforts allow loved ones to remain in their homes and communities with dignity and comfort.

While caregiving can bring deep satisfaction, it also presents challenges that can impact a caregiver's physical and emotional health. The county commission encourages the community to take time this month to honor and support these individuals whose work is essential but often goes unrecognized.

"Family caregivers provide essential care every single day, often without recognition," said Commissioner Michelle Stone. "This month is our opportunity to express gratitude for their tireless service and reaffirm our commitment to supporting their critical role in protecting the health, dignity, and well-being of their loved ones."

Marion County will host a special event for caregivers on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9-11 a.m. at the Ocala Downtown Square, where participants can access helpful resources and connect with others who share similar experiences.

By proclaiming November as Family Caregivers Appreciation Month, Marion County highlights the invaluable contributions of these caregivers and invites residents to show appreciation for those who dedicate themselves to this demanding yet profoundly important work.
