Notice of Potential Fraudulent Scam

Tuesday, February 24, 2026

The Court has been alerted to a scam being perpetrated on debtors and possibly others where the victim receives a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be from the bankruptcy court and demanding payment via Zelle, Venmo, or some other method. Please note that the Bankruptcy Court Clerk's never calls for payment and does not accept payment via any method other than a Pay.gov, bank check, or money order. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of any request for payment, please call the Court at either the Bangor location (207-945-0348) or the Portland location (207-780-3482) and we will be able to verify if any fees are owed in your case.
