Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Push-In Ceremony July 23

LVFR Welcomes A New Engine To Fire Station 4 At 9 A.M.

Wednesday, July 23, at 9 a.m., Las Vegas Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz and Fire Chief Fernando Gray will join fire staff to initiate a new fire engine into service at Fire Station 4, located at 421 S. 15 St. Chaplains will bless the new emergency unit. Then firefighters and willing community members will join to push the new engine into the bay. The community is invited to attend.

The push-in ceremony, a deeply significant tradition in the fire service, has its origins in the 1800s when the limitations of horse-drawn fire apparatus necessitated a unique method of stationing. Firefighters would disconnect the horses and manually push the engine into the bay. This enduring tradition, which we proudly uphold today, is a profound mark of respect and honor for the introduction of new apparatus into service.

Engine 4, a vital addition to our fleet, is dedicated to serving the residents of Ward 3. Engine 4 will be one of the busiest engines in the Las Vegas valley. With its advanced capabilities, it will play a pivotal role in strengthening fire protection, emergency medical response and public safety services, ensuring the well-being of our community.

This event, a celebration of our community and its safety, is free and open to all. On-site interviews will be available to media outlets.
