City of Fayetteville 2025 Historic Preservation Awards
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - This week, the City of Fayetteville Historic District Commission recognized several Fayetteville residents and organizations for significant contributions to historic preservation in Fayetteville.
During its meeting Thursday, May 8, the commission and Mayor Molly Rawn presented six Historic Preservation Awards, as well as nine letters of acclamation. The recognitions celebrate the community's rich cultural heritage and commend projects, organizations and individuals that have displayed an outstanding commitment to historic preservation in Fayetteville.
This was the 12th time the City has given out such awards. The following 2025 Historic Preservation Awards and letters of acclamation were presented:

Adaptive Reuse Award: Flintlock LAB for its work on 512 N. Mission Blvd.

Historic Restoration Award: Washington County Historical Society for the 1840 Ridge House at 230 W. Center St.

Award for Preservation (Commercial): Guisinger Cocktail Club for the 1886 Guisinger Building at 1 E. Mountain St.

Award for Rehabilitation (Commercial): The Clementine on College for 1960 Hiway Inn at 1156 N. College Ave.

Award for Rehabilitation (Residential): Jeff and Allison Pederson for 127 W. Ila St.

Award for Lifetime Achievement in Historic Preservation: Lioneld Jordan for service and leadership in protecting and sharing the history and historic places of Fayetteville during his tenure as mayor of Fayetteville.

Public History: Maylon Rice for the "On This Day in Fayetteville" social media campaign.

Historic Research: Georgena Duncan for documenting persons enslaved in Fayetteville.

Digital Archival Preservation: Patsy Watkins, Washington County Historical Society and University of Arkansas Special Collections for digitizing the Flashback archive.

History Education: Oshner Lifelong Learning Institute for offering history and historic preservation classes with the City of Fayetteville Long Range Planning Division and Preserve Arkansas.

Public History: Britin Bostick, the City's long range planning/special projects manager, for facilitating the Nelson Orr plaque creation, installation and unveiling.

Excellence as a Historic Preservation Partner: Dennis Sanders and Fayetteville Building Safety Division for their support of historic preservation, rehabilitation and restoration projects.

Preservation Practice: Stantec Consulting Services for their work on the University Heights and Haskell Heights Historic Context Statement, Multiple Property Documentation Form for University Heights and Haskell Heights, and the National Register of Historic Places Nomination for the Orton House.

Cultural Heritage Preservation: Post Oak Preservation Solutions for the creation of the Historic Black Community of Southeast Fayetteville Historic Context Statement.

Cultural Heritage Stewardship: Southeast Fayetteville Neighbors, St. James United Methodist Church and Lois Bryant for sharing the deep history of their community, providing meeting spaces and supporting the development of the Historic Black Community of Southeast Fayetteville.
