Calls for proposals to strengthen migration partnerships, border management and internal security

The Migration Partnership Facility (MPF), programme financed by the European Commission, launched three calls for proposals. It opens new funding opportunities for cooperation between EU Member States and priority partner countries in three areas of migration management:

• Migration Partnerships, funded through the EU Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF);
• Border Management, funded through the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI);
• Internal Security, funded through the Internal Security Fund (ISF).

Migration Partnerships Call

The Migration Partnerships Call has an allocation of six million euros from AMIF to support EU migration priorities with partner countries. It will support projects that aim to improve partner countries' policy and legal frameworks for migration and mobility and aim to enhance the capacity-building in legal migration management, asylum policy and protection.

Applicants must be either an EU public body (such as a government authority), or a private legal entity (such as an NGO, foundation, or university) registered in an EU Member State, together with a government body as co-applicant.

Border Management Call

The Border Management Call has an allocation of five million euros from BMVI to strengthen the management and control of the EU's external borders. For example, it will support projects focused on improving border controls, strengthening identity and travel document security in non-EU countries, or supporting dialogue on visa issues with non-EU countries. Applicants must be a government body or authorised agency/operator.

Internal Security Call

The Internal Security Call has an allocation of three million euros from ISF to improve the EU's internal security. It will support actions to tackle irregular migration and migrant smuggling, combat trafficking in human beings, and bolster capacities to prevent and respond to migration-related crises. Applicants must be a government body or authorised agency/operator.

All three calls are without a deadline. Concept notes may be submitted at any time until funds are depleted, or the calls are closed. The application process consists of two steps: submission of a concept note and if positively assessed, submission of a full application. All actions must be implemented by 30 June 2031.
