Community engagement for Downtown Livability 2.0 kicks off with events in June
The City of Bellevue has launched Downtown Livability 2.0, an update to the city's land use code intended to encourage a more vibrant downtown, increase housing, support the Grand Connection and promote the historic nature of Main Street in Old Bellevue.
In 2017, the city adopted its first set of Downtown Livability code amendments to ensure downtown remained an attractive area, with open spaces and mixed-use buildings, as it developed rapidly into both a commercial and residential hub. As the area continues to grow, the city is evaluating how the existing code functions and identifying opportunities to strengthen support for a vibrant, welcoming and accessible urban core.
A new proposed land use code amendment will reinforce longstanding policy guidance, including maintaining downtown's emphasis on open space, pedestrian activity and overall livability.
To support Downtown Livability 2.0, the city is launching a comprehensive community engagement process this summer. As part of this effort, information sessions on Monday, June 15 (in person), and Wednesday, June 17 (virtual), will give community members an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and stay involved.
Registration on Eventbrite is encouraged but not required. More information is available Downtown Livability 2.0.
