Spot Invasive Insects Bioblitz

Like nature? Photography? Bugs? Dislike invasive species? Help spot invasive species early and learn about what's living on or near the plants they threaten!

Participate in a small BioBlitz this October! A bioblitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. The goal is to check trees for invasive pests like the spotted lanternfly.

Join The Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources Invasive Pest Outreach Program October 1-15 for their Spot Invasive Insects Bioblitz!

The Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources Invasive Pest Outreach Program is running a series of BioBlitzes using iNaturalist. This October, the focus will be on checking a few trees in your area for the spotted lanternfly and Asian long horned beetle.

All they are asking you to do is:
1) Pick a spot where trees are growing.
2) Record all the living things you see on or near those trees, using the iNaturalist website.

Participants can take part in the event any time from October 1-15 and can select as many or as few trees as they want.

More information, including how to register for a free iNaturalist account and what to look for, can be found over at their pest blog. If you are already an iNat pro, join the project directlyhere.
