Press Release - City of Torrance Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Torrance Farmers' Market and World Famous Pie Contest

TORRANCE, Calif., October 7, 2025

The Torrance Certified Farmers' Market is thrilled to announce its 40th Anniversary Celebration, taking place on Tuesday, October 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at Charles H. Wilson Park.

For four decades, the Torrance Farmers' Market has been a community tradition, offering farm
-fresh produce directly to residents, supporting local growers and small businesses, and promoting healthy,
sustainable living. This milestone celebration will honor the market's enduring legacy and the
farmers who have made it a success story in the South Bay.

The event will feature a commemorative ceremony, including cake -cutting and remarks from
Torrance Mayor George Chen and other distinguished guests. Following the ceremony, festivities will
continue with the Third Annual World -Famous Pie Contest, inviting bakers of all levels to showcase
their most delicious creations.

Members of the public are invited to watch and partake in the fun or enter their own world
-famous pie of any variation. Pies will be judged according to taste, appearance, and creativity. All entries must
be homemade from scratch including crust, dough, and filling.

To enter the contest, participants must complete the entry form available on the City of Torrance
website, including contact details and a copy of the pie recipe. On the day of the event, contestants
should bring their entry form, recipe, and pie to the Torrance Farmers' Market by 9:00 a.m. Please
note that only the first 15 entries will be accepted . There will also be a pie-eating contest, for more
pie spectator fun!
