HARRISBURG - Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) today applauded the award of a $6,850 grant to the Pennsylvania State University, Cloverbud and Junior Explorers Agriculture Safety and Community Discovery program for Wyoming County.
The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Ag and Youth Grant Program.
"Agriculture is such an important part of Pennsylvania's past and present, and with initiatives like these, it will continue to be an important part of our future," the lawmakers said. "It is always great seeing young people being engaged and excited about farming and other agriculture activities."
The PA Ag and Youth grant program offers direct and matching grants for youth-centered organizations, projects, programs and equipment to promote agricultural, leadership and vocational skills, along with peer relationships.
This grant program was created through the 2019 PA Farm Bill and makes funds available for eligible projects focused on education or workforce development seminars or field trips, agricultural safety training programs, and/or capital projects or equipment purchases.
