Performance contract to implement energy efficiency measures at Georgia World Congress Center

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) today announced the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is entering into an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) to implement energy-efficiency improvements.

Through an ESPC, facilities can make energy and water efficiency improvements and use the resulting cost savings to pay for the projects over time. GWCC partnered with Trane, an energy services company, to conduct an energy audit to determine the most appropriate energy conservation measures to implement. The energy audit determines both the practicality of implementing energy and water conservation measures and the financial feasibility of entering into an ESPC.

The energy efficiency projects at GWCC will include building automation and control upgrades, chiller plant upgrades, generator peak shaving, and more. Guaranteed savings are estimated to be $2.5 million in the first year. Over the term of the performance contract, the guaranteed savings will exceed $87.9 million. The total project cost is $36.9 million. Bank of America will finance the project with an 18-year, 6.45 percent loan.
