Human Rights Commission Launches Community Mental Health Survey

The City's Human Rights Commission launched a Community Mental Health Survey Tuesday to help commissioners better understand the social, economic, and environmental conditions that shape residents' well-being. Find the survey online.

The survey focuses on five areas: economic stability, education access and quality, mental health care access and quality, neighborhood and built environment, and social and community context. These topics explore everyday factors, such as employment, housing, transportation, community connections, and support systems that can significantly affect mental health. By gathering broad community input, the Commission hopes to capture a clear picture of local needs and priorities.

Residents may lend their voices to the process by completing the online survey now through December 15. A final report is due in March 2027. It will guide recommendations for City policy, community partnerships, resource coordination, and future programs.

The HRC is working with other City Human Rights Department boards and commissions, the Cone Health Foundation, the Peace of HOPE Foundation, Inc., and North Carolina A&T State University to support community outreach, survey distribution, and data collection and analysis.
