On Monday, the Columbia City Council established guidelines for extended operations during the FIFA World Cup for businesses offering alcohol by the drink. In August, the State of Missouri passed HB1041, allowing for 23-hour operations for establishments that serve alcohol by the drink, with the option for cities to opt out of the State ordinance. The Columbia City Council voted to opt out and adopt parameters specifically for Columbia.
The following parameters were passed:
-Businesses may extend their hours on June 14, 17, 20, 21, 23, 27 and July 3.
-Businesses may extend their hours to 2:30 a.m. on the selected dates.
-Businesses wishing to extend their hours may apply for one special events permit to cover all requested open dates for a fee of $100.
The special events permit can be accessed online at: CoMo.gov/convention-and-visitors-bureau/city-special-events/. Applications for extended operating hours must be received 30 days before the first requested date of the extension.
