VICTORY FOR GUN SAFETY: Roy Cooper Elected to Represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters elected former Governor Roy Cooper to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

"Roy Cooper spent more than two decades keeping North Carolina communities safe as attorney general and governor, and now he's taking that fight to a Senate that has spent two years rubber-stamping this administration's attacks on our gun laws," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown congratulates Senator-elect Cooper, and we're ready to work with him to rebuild what this administration has torn down."

"North Carolina volunteers remember who had their backs when the legislature moved to scrap the state's handgun background check: Governor Roy Cooper. He has fought for families across this state for decades, and now he'll do it in the U.S. Senate," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "We congratulate him and look forward to working together."

"North Carolina parents saw Governor Cooper stand up for our kids when it mattered most, and we are so proud to see him headed to the U.S. Senate," said Joselyn Ramírez, a volunteer with the North Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action. "We know he'll keep fighting for families like ours in Washington, and we'll be cheering him on every step of the way."
