City of Saint John Celebrates New Grant‑Funded Equipment

The City of Saint John is highlighting a significant investment in community safety following the presentation of new emergency response equipment to the Saint John Fire Department, made possible through a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada®.

The funding, totaling over $40,000, supported the purchase of a Yamaha all-terrain vehicle (ATV) equipped with a front windshield, enhancing the Fire Department's capacity to respond to emergencies in hard-to-reach and rugged areas across the city.

The equipment was officially showcased during a community event at the Firehouse Subs restaurant, located at 30 Plaza Ave in West Saint John on Saturday, where residents were invited to meet firefighters, view the new ATV, and learn more about how the equipment will support emergency response efforts. The event also included a family-friendly Touch-the-Truck experience, giving children and families hands-on exposure to firefighting equipment and vehicles.

"This new ATV is an important addition to our emergency response capabilities," said Deputy Fire Chief Ed Moyer of the Saint John Fire Department. "It will allow our crews to reach remote or challenging terrain more efficiently, improving response times and helping ensure public safety when minutes matter most."

The City of Saint John extends its appreciation to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada® and the local Firehouse Subs restaurant for their continued investment in first responders and community safety.

Since its inception, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada® has supported public safety organizations across the country by providing critical funding for lifesaving equipment and resources.
