PHINIA to highlight commercial methanol progress and expanded China capabilities at 2026 ICE & PE Show

  • PHINIA's GDi methanol technology supports a major vehicle customer application in China, amid growing interest in methanol PFI

  • PHINIA to showcase advanced large-engine fuel systems, diesel injection, and capacitive and inductive ignition technologies at ICE & PE 2026

  • Stoba acquisition strengthens PHINIA's local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities in China

Auburn Hills, Mich. (November 5, 2026) - PHINIA Inc. (NYSE: PHIN), a diversified industrial supplier and global leader in the development of fuel systems, electrical systems, and aftermarket solutions, will highlight its growing commercial presence in China at the 2026 International Exhibition on Internal Combustion Engine & Powertrain Equipment, supported by increasing methanol adoption and expanded local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities.

Taking place in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, from November 11-13, the event comes as PHINIA builds its alternative fuel portfolio to meet the evolving needs of China's commercial vehicle and engine manufacturers. Its GDi methanol technology is already in use by a major vehicle customer in China with interest in methanol PFI technology continuing to grow. PHINIA will also showcase its dual diesel/methanol fuel system, which enables parallel control of both fuels to improve combustion efficiency, alongside solutions for hydrogen and compressed natural gas applications.

PHINIA's recent acquisition of stoba also marks a further step in strengthening its position in China, expanding its local manufacturing capabilities and integrating an existing supplier into its operations. The acquisition enhances supply chain resilience and vertical integration, supporting closer collaboration with commercial vehicle and engine manufacturers as they develop the next generation of powertrains.

PHINIA is also targeting growth in the large-engine market, offering advanced pump and injector technologies for ultra-heavy-duty applications. Its DUP4CBX pump delivers pressures of up to 2,500 bar, with modular pumping elements supporting a wide power range and dual diesel/alternative fuel control. Complementing this, PHINIA's large-engine fuel system enables up to 10 DFI 5.2 injections per cycle at 2,000 bar and has been validated for 1.6 million km or 25,000 hours. Together, these technologies deliver a durable, efficient fuel system solution for demanding large-engine applications.

"We believe the Chinese commercial vehicle market will continue to evolve towards a mix of powertrain technologies," said Hank Yang, Vice President & General Manager, Power Systems Asia at PHINIA. "Our alternative fuel and ignition systems help customers balance increasingly stringent emissions requirements with the need for efficiency and durability. With methanol technologies already moving into real application and the acquisition of stoba strengthening our local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, we're better positioned to work alongside customers in developing the next generation of powertrains."

Advanced technologies for evolving emissions requirements

Alongside its growing alternative fuel portfolio, PHINIA will showcase advanced diesel fuel systems and ignition technologies for light- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Manufactured locally across four plants in China, these solutions combine precise fuel delivery, efficiency, and durability to help OEMs prepare for increasingly stringent emissions requirements, including the anticipated China VII standards. PHINIA's diesel injection systems deliver pressures of up to 3,000 bar, supporting improved fuel atomization, fuel economy, and reduced particulate emissions. The exhibition will also feature PHINIA's 500 bar GDi fuel system and ignition solutions for alternative fuel applications.

Looking further ahead, PHINIA will demonstrate the breadth of its hydrogen capabilities with technology developed as part of Alpine's Alpenglow hydrogen program, on display at ICE & PE for the first time. Beyond high-performance applications, PHINIA has demonstrated hydrogen technology specifically for commercial vehicles. Recent testing of its 13-litre commercial engine demonstrator vehicle, converted from diesel to hydrogen using PHINIA's high-flow PFI injector, achieved indicated thermal efficiency exceeding 45%.

"Commercial vehicle manufacturers need practical technology options that can meet different duty cycles, performance requirements, and emissions targets," said Todd Anderson, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at PHINIA. "Our advanced diesel and methanol technologies support customers' evolving requirements today, while our hydrogen technologies demonstrate the potential of future powertrain solutions. By investing across these technologies, we aim to give manufacturers the flexibility to adopt the solutions best suited to their applications."

Visitors can see PHINIA's latest technologies at booth 6A03-1 at the 2026 International Exhibition on Internal Combustion Engine & Powertrain Equipment in Nanjing, China, from November 11-13, 2026.
