Flood Park Playground to Open by November 2026

The final phase of the Flood Park playground renovation is nearly complete. The playground opening was delayed because the metal slides were reaching high temperatures during the hot, summer months. For the safety of children using the play structure, the Parks Department temporarily delayed the playground's opening. We are investigating mitigation measures that would shield sections of the playground from direct sunlight. In the meantime, we have been monitoring the temperature of the equipment. With cooler fall weather and the changing angle of the sun, we anticipate opening the playground before November 2026.
