USDA Announces Designations to Provide Official Services Under the U.S. Grain Standards Act

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the following agencies are designated to provide official services at non-export port locations in specified geographic areas under delegated authority of the United States Grain Standards Act (USGSA):

  • Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota and Ohio: North Dakota Grain Inspection Service, Inc.
  • Illinois, Indiana and Michigan: Champaign-Danville Grain Inspection Departments, Inc.
  • Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin: Eastern Iowa Grain Inspection and Weighing Service, Inc.
  • Oklahoma and Texas: Enid Grain Inspection Company, Inc.
  • Iowa and Nebraska: Fremont Grain Inspection Department, Inc.
  • Maryland: Maryland Department of Agriculture
  • Iowa and Nebraska: Omaha Grain Inspection Service, Inc.

Designation provides for private entities or state governmental agencies to be an integral part of the official grain inspection system. Designated agencies work under the supervision of the Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) and are authorized to provide official inspection and weighing services in a defined geographic area, as appropriate.
