Baker, Pickett, Announce Fire, EMS Grants for Wyoming County

HARRISBURG - More than $185,000 in funding is being distributed to 13 fire and emergency medical service (EMS) providers in Wyoming County through the 2025-26 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) and Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) announced today.

"Our firefighters and EMS providers put themselves on the line every day to protect our communities, and these grants help ensure they have the equipment and resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively," Baker said. "We are proud to support these critical investments in emergency services that strengthen public safety and improve emergency response across our region."

"The men and women who answer the bell in our greatest time of need can't survive simply on chicken barbecue dinners and sandwich sales," Pickett added. "Fundraising only gets these emergency responders part of the way when it comes to funding. These grants are so important to them, especially when you consider the price of purchasing and maintaining equipment. We need to do all we can to help them do the job they have chosen to perform."

The Wyoming County grant recipients are as follows:

• Factoryville Fire Company (fire) - $13,663.17.
• FWM Emergency Squad Inc. - $15,000.
• Lake Carey Volunteer Fire Company - $12,838.71.
• Lake Winola Fire Company 1 (fire) - $15,312.09.
• Lake Winola Fire Company 1 (EMS) - $15,000.
• Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company (fire) - $14,693.75.
• Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company (EMS) - $15,000.
• Nicholson Fire Company No. 1 - $12,426.48.
• Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company - $13,663.17.
• Noxen Community Ambulance Association - $15,000.
• Noxen Volunteer Fire Company - $13,663.17.
• Triton Hose Company No. 1 - $14,000.
• Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association - $15,000.

The grants are awarded through an ongoing program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire safety, or reduction of existing debt. In order to receive funding, recipients must file a grant agreement with OSFC.
