On January 22, PCMS hosted the VEX Robotics Competition which included several middle school teams. Participating schools included Clyde, Edison, Genoa Margaretta, and Columbus Grove. Port Clinton Middle School's Robotics team April Osborne, Jannelle Mitchell, Miles Taylor, Penny Sandvick, Kenleigh Mazur along with co-Coaches Ron Aukerman and Diane Dunn also competed. Also assisting during the day was the PCHS VEX and V5 Middle School team Xavier Good, Ethan Leis, Luke Hill, Hunter Schuck, and Hayden Shepherd.
Students constructed their robots in advance, aiming to stack scoring rings on stakes and strategically maneuver mobile goals across the field. The objective was to maximize points through high-speed precision and teamwork.
The event featured four competition fields and requires students to collaborate to outscore their opponents. There were 26 teams competing. PCMS team, Ctrl-Alt-Elite, finished in 14th. Teams that were the highest scoring overall were the Junkbots from Genoa and Circuit Destroyers from Edison tied for first Place Teamwork. Second place Teamwork were the Bulls from Margaretta and The Crushers from Clyde.
