Dentons welcomes Jochem Calis as Partner in Amsterdam Tax practice

November 3, 2025

Amsterdam-Global law firm Dentons is pleased to announce that Jochem Calis has joined its Amsterdam office as Partner in the Tax practice. He brings over 15 years of experience in national and international tax advisory, focusing on people tax services, including wage tax, personal income tax, social security and immigration. He joins Dentons from Grant Thornton, where he was tax director of the Dutch global mobility services department.

Calis' practice primarily centers on helping multinational clients navigate the complex interplay between global mobility, employment tax, social security and compliance. Throughout his career, he has advised clients across a wide range of industries, including technology, automotive, consumer goods, nutrition and natural resources. His knowledge extends beyond taxation to HR strategy, new business, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Drawing on his extensive experience in both the Big Four tax consultancy environment and in-house corporate roles, he is well-versed in converting complex tax rules into practical business solutions.

In addition to his fiscal law background, Jochem Calis holds a master's degree in business administration, a combination that underscores his dual focus on technical tax excellence and strategic business insight, and allows him to partner closely with clients on strategic issues that bridge tax, HR and business operations.

"Jochem's appointment reinforces our commitment to growing a full-service Tax practice that matches the international footprint and needs of our clients," said Marnix Veldhuijzen, Dentons Netherlands' Managing Partner and Partner in the Dutch Tax practice. "His broad experience and deep understanding of people-related tax issues will be a strong asset to our clients navigating today's global mobility and workforce challenges."

Commenting on his appointment, Jochem Calis said: "I'm excited to join Dentons' dynamic global platform and contribute to building an innovative and integrated tax offering. I look forward to working with our clients and colleagues, acting as a sparring partner, to turn complex challenges into practical, sustainable and integrated solutions for Human Capital related issues."

Dentons' growing Tax practice brings together the talent of more than 380 lawyers worldwide, including more than 100 in Europe. The European team offers local, EU-wide and cross-border advice on a full spectrum of cross-border transactions, litigations and other tax-related matters.
