Weekly Recall: Well, Kind Of

Hey hey! Eric from the OW Comms team here with the newest Weekly Recall. This blog was supposed to be a Director's Take from Alec, however that has turned into quite the hefty piece that we will now publish closer to Season 2. That's not hyperbole; the original draft was close to 3,000 words, so Liz is taking some extra time to help get it into shape.

In the meantime, there was a hole in our calendar to fill. It's been our goal to publish a blog every Friday, but this delay touches on something we've been talking about internally on the Comms team: is it better to consistently get a blog out every week or wait until the timing and language are absolutely perfect? The eternal Quality vs Quantity debate. Especially as some blogs can take several days or even weeks to ideate, draft, review, edit, and then localize (translated into 11 languages to publish all at once, but tight deadlines often have meant staggered releases). And not just blogs, but do we make sure to get a Livestream up every month no matter what, or find a more holistic cadence?

So, as we adjust to life under Vendetta and The Reign of Talon, we're moving away from a rigid cadence, and instead aiming for being semiregular. Essentially, this will now be the Weekly, Weekly-ish, Weekly-esque, Weekly-adjacent, Kinda-Weekly, Weekly™ (we're still brainstorming names) Recall blog series...and don't worry, we are still aiming for at least one Director's Take every month. Maintaining consistency over perfection, while still speaking to you at the same time in every country you play from and not taking time or energy away from the game itself.

Back in January, you let us know what topics you are most keen to learn more about. We know you love charts, so here is a breakdown of the poll results.

These results are helping to inform which areas to focus on for upcoming blogs and livestreams, along with some of the ideas we have around what to share at BlizzCon.

Next week, you'll hear from Sound Design. Followed by Alec's next Director's Take within the first week or two of April (perhaps something absurd may happen around that time as well). We'll also have our first Livestream of the year coming your way early in April!
