Public Meetings Scheduled for the Week of May 12, 2025

The State Fire Council will meet on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held in person at Columbus Firefighters Union Hal, 379 W Broad Street, Columbus.

The State Fire Council makes recommendations to the Governor, the General Assembly and other state agencies about any needed changes in laws, rules or administrative policies relating to fire safety. The Council also may recommend revision of the rules in the State Fire Code adopted by the State Fire Marshal.

The Board of Building Standards Residential Construction Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 14 at 9 a.m. at the Division of Industrial Compliance, 6606 Tussing Road, Training Room 2, Reynoldsburg.

The Residential Construction Advisory Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the Board on proposed changes to the Residential Code of Ohio.

The Board of Building Standards Certification and Education Committees will meet on Thursday, May 15 at 12 p.m. at the Division of Industrial Compliance, 6606 Tussing Road, BBS Library, Reynoldsburg.

The Certification and Education Committees review building departments, building department personnel and continuing education applications and make recommendations to the Board of Building Standards. The committees also review and make recommendations to the Board on other personnel and education-related issues.

The Board of Building Standards Code Committee will meet on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Division of Industrial Compliance, 6606 Tussing Road, Training Room 2, Reynoldsburg.

The Code Committee reviews petitions for building code changes and makes recommendations to the Board of Building Standards.

The Board of Building Standards will meet on Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at the Division of Industrial Compliance, 6606 Tussing Road, Training Room 1, Reynoldsburg.

The Board of Building Standards formulates and adopts rules governing the Ohio Residential and Non-Residential Building Codes. The Board also certifies municipal, county and township building departments to enforce the Ohio Residential and Non-Residential Codes.
