Get ready for your next outdoor adventure with an easy click of a button, thanks to enhancements to the City's Foothills Nature Preserve Library Pass program for vehicle access. Starting Thursday, January 16, 2025, patrons can reserve two-week vehicle passes for free entry to the Foothills Preserve at the Palo Alto Library. These new passes expand the existing program from a one-day printed pass to a two-week pass, making it even easier to explore the preserve's 1,400 acres of trails, woodlands, and stunning views. The Palo Alto Library online catalog also offers free access passes for State Parks and Santa Clara County Parks. Modeled after the California State Parks Library Pass program, the new passes highlight and support community health and wellness and outdoor exploration.
Annual Vehicle Passes Available for Purchase
Foothills Nature Preserve annual vehicle passes continue to be available for purchase for unlimited access during regular park hours. Learn more and purchase your annual pass here. Free annual vehicle passes are available for active military, veterans, and low-income visitors, students in the 4th grade, and for persons with developmental, hearing, speech, visual, mental, or physical disabilities.
Daily Vehicle Entrance Fees, Free Vehicle Access Days, Pedestrian and Bicycle Access is Free
Foothills Nature Preserve daily vehicle entrance fees continue as low as $6 per vehicle (9 passenger or less capacity) and there are several days a year where vehicle access to Foothills Nature Preserve is free, including the following days:
