CONCORD, NH - Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte announced that state government agencies are prepared for a federal government shutdown, with minimal impact on services and operations expected.
"Our state is prepared in the event of a federal government shutdown and expects minimal impact on services for Granite Staters in the short-term," said Governor Ayotte. "State agency heads have assured us that within the next 30 days, operations will continue as normal. In New Hampshire, we put together a responsible, balanced budget every two years - leaders in Washington should take a page out of our playbook and put the needs of families over partisan dysfunction."
State agency leaders confirmed to the Governor's Office that critical programs, including SNAP and WIC, administered via DHHS, and LIHEAP, administered via the Department of Energy, will not be impacted in the event of a short-term shutdown lasting 30 days or less. State parks will also remain open as usual for visitors and residents during peak foliage.
