Congressman Derek Schmidt (KS-02) issued the following statement regarding passage of H.Res.719, honoring the life and legacy of Charles "Charlie" Kirk:
"The murder of Charlie Kirk was an attack on civil discourse and dialogue in our great country. Like all Americans of goodwill, I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. I am proud to be a cosponsor of today's resolution honoring Charlie's life and legacy and commend its passage by the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, I was detained by an unanticipated meeting with constituents that prevented me from reaching the House floor in time to cast my vote in favor of the resolution, but I would proudly have cast my vote for it. Political violence has no place in our United States of America."
