Governor Hochul Celebrates the Opening of the 2026 Great New York State Fair

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said, "The new FFA Building offers fairgoers the chance to learn about agriculture and the many career opportunities our industry has to offer. The space will provide fairgoers with a chance to connect with industry professionals, engage with their peers in FFA, and see first-hand how young people can contribute to the future of agriculture. I thank the Governor for her commitment to the New York State Fair and for supporting its agricultural exhibits as well as all the Fair's unique attractions, exciting entertainment, and delicious food that truly make the Great New York State Fair beyond great."

State Fair Director Julie LaFave said, "From our time-honored traditions to our new events and attractions, the State Fair truly offers something for everyone. Our new FFA Building represents our commitment to agriculture and is just one of the many new sites across many different areas to explore this year on the Fairgrounds. Our team has worked hard to provide the biggest and best State Fair this year and we're excited for fairgoers to come see what we have in store for 2026."

State Senator Michelle Hinchey said, "The New York State Fair is one of the best celebrations of local agriculture, bringing families together every summer to make great memories on the fairgrounds. This year, it's exciting to see the grand opening of FFA's new building and the investments we're making in next generation of New York agriculture. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food, fun attractions, and support small businesses from across New York. Thank you to Governor Hochul, Ag & Markets, and every vendor who helps make the Fair a special New York tradition."

Assemblymember Donna Lupardo said, "Each year, the Great New York State Fair provides an opportunity to experience the agriculture, traditions, and innovation that make our state so special. The new FFA Building is a welcome addition to the Fair and will help showcase the next generation of agricultural leaders and the many opportunities available in this industry. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new exhibits and improvements, and encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the Fair."

2026 New Exhibits and Attractions!

In addition to the new FFA Building, there are plenty of agricultural exhibits and attractions to see, including scores of traditions, like the Butter Sculpture, perfectly chilled, $0.25 milk at the Milk Bar, and plenty of animals. Plus, for the 2026 Fair, fairgoers can experience several new and exciting additions. The Holstein Dairy Cattle Competition, a fairgoer favorite, will take place on Sunday, August 30 in the Toyota Coliseum with its largest showing in nearly a decade. Also in the Toyota Coliseum, fairgoers will get two opportunities to take a closer look at the wonderful world of horses. On Saturday, August 29 at 10:30 a.m., 4-H youth will present the 4-H Driving and Miniature Horse Show, where they will demonstrate their driving and in-hand skills. Then, at 5:00 p.m., visitors can join 4-H youth for a Meet the Horses Educational Event to learn more about the magnificent horses staying at The Fair.

On Friday, August 28, Saturday, August 29, and Saturday, September 5, kids will take center stage for the Kiddie Tractor Pull in the Toyota Coliseum. Beginning at noon, this pint-sized version of the beloved tractor pull invites youth registrants to test their strength and see how far they can pull their tractors in this entertaining competition.
