mMEDICI, NTT Precision Medicine, and PRiME-R Conclude Partnership Agreement

~ Integrating Clinical Research and PMS Support through the Utilization of Medical Real-World Data to Accelerate RWE Generation and International Collaborative Research ~

mMEDICI Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Naoki Hirose; hereinafter "mMEDICI"), NTT Precision Medicine Corporation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Korekawa; hereinafter "NTT Precision Medicine"), and Prime Research Institute for Medical RWD, Inc. (Kyoto City, Kyoto; President and CEO: Koji Korekawa; hereinafter "PRiME-R") hereby announce that the three companies have concluded a partnership agreement (the "Agreement") to strengthen support for clinical research and post-marketing surveillance (PMS) utilizing medical Real-World Data (RWD).

Under the Agreement, the three companies will link the Japan Precision Medicine Platform® (hereinafter "JPP"), the medical data utilization platform provided by NTT Precision Medicine; mMEDICI's expertise in the concept design of research and business and in decision-making support; and PRiME-R's solutions for registry data utilization support and clinical research/PMS support, thereby building a framework that provides end-to-end support from research planning through execution, analysis, and reporting.

Within one year of concluding the Agreement, the three companies will undertake three priority use cases and, by leveraging the resulting outcomes and insights, aim within three years to accelerate the generation of Real-World Evidence (RWE) and to expand its research applications in Japan and overseas to approximately ten cases.

■ Background of the Agreement

In recent years, expectations have been growing for the generation of RWE using RWD obtained in routine clinical practice, with a view to advancing drug development and improving the quality of healthcare. At the same time, the process from research planning through execution, analysis, and reporting requires multiple requirements to be satisfied simultaneously, including establishing the research framework, ensuring data quality, enabling cross-institutional analysis and reproducibility, and addressing governance and security.

Through JPP, NTT Precision Medicine is advancing the development of an infrastructure that enables clinical data, laboratory data, genomic data, and other data distributed across medical and research institutions nationwide to be utilized securely and smoothly.

mMEDICI supports the realization of RWD utilization that leads to tangible outcomes, working from the conceptual stage of research and business through decision-making support and stakeholder coordination.

PRiME-R has built registries in collaboration with medical institutions and, through registry data utilization support and clinical research/PMS support, has advanced efforts to connect RWD from clinical settings to research outcomes.

This Agreement is intended to leverage the strengths of the three companies to steadily advance RWD utilization while addressing the practical, quality, and governance requirements demanded in research settings.

■ Strengths and Roles of Each Company

mMEDICI Inc.

・ Concept design and strategy development for research and business in RWD utilization

・ Leading the advancement of projects through decision-making support and stakeholder coordination

・ Advice on data analysis and utilization policies, as well as support for generating and disseminating research outcomes

NTT Precision Medicine Corporation

・ As the primary provider of JPP services, promoting the development of infrastructure for medical data utilization

・ Providing the technology, operations, and governance that enable secure data utilization

Prime Research Institute for Medical RWD, Inc.

・ Building and operating registries in the oncology field in collaboration with medical institutions

・ Provision of RWD utilization solutions, including registry data utilization support and clinical research/PMS support

・ Provision of business and operational expertise for research and evidence generation using RWD

■ Expected Benefits of the Agreement

Under the Agreement, the three companies will strengthen a framework that provides integrated support for RWD utilization spanning multiple institutions and data sources, from the research conceptualization stage through execution, analysis, and reporting. This makes it possible to organize at an early stage the research design, data utilization policies, quality management, and governance measures that previously had to be examined and coordinated individually, thereby aiming to shorten the lead time to launching research and to improve the feasibility of RWE generation.

Specifically, as a shared goal, the three companies will give concrete form to three priority use cases within one year of concluding the Agreement and advance the development of RWD utilization models with a view to expansion into clinical research, PMS, and international collaborative research. Furthermore, aiming to expand to a scale of around ten research and commercialization themes within three years, they will progressively broaden a flexible RWD utilization framework tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical companies and researchers, centered on the oncology field.

In addition, by combining JPP's secure data utilization platform, mMEDICI's concept design and decision-making support, and PRiME-R's registry data utilization support and clinical research/PMS support, the three companies will advance the optimization and standardization of data management, analysis, and reporting processes. This will help ensure research quality and reproducibility while establishing standard processes that can be applied horizontally across multiple research themes, thereby accelerating efforts to transform RWD from "usable data" into "evidence that leads to outcomes."

■ Future Developments

Based on the Agreement, the three companies will provide research support progressively, beginning with high-priority use cases, through dialogue with pharmaceutical companies and researchers.

In addition, while placing strong emphasis on research ethics, security, and data governance, the three companies will work to establish an environment in which researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and other organizations in Japan and overseas can utilize RWD with confidence, thereby contributing to the advancement of data-driven medical research and drug development.

Endorsement Comments

mMEDICI Inc.

Naoki Hirose, PhD, MPH, CEO / Principal Epidemiologist

"The utilization of RWD does not produce results merely because data and infrastructure are in place; what is essential is the design of how research and business are conceived and how decisions are made along the way. Through this agreement, we are now able to combine our expertise in concept design and decision-making support with the robust data platform of JPP and PRiME-R's extensive experience in registry and clinical research support. Together, the three companies will realize a framework that enables pharmaceutical companies and researchers to proceed seamlessly from the conceptual stage through to the generation of outcomes."

NTT Precision Medicine Corporation
Masaaki Tabata, Head of Data Consultation Department, Executive Vice President, Member of the Board

"To truly advance the utilization of medical data, a platform that enables data distributed across multiple medical and research institutions to be used in an integrated manner while ensuring security and governance is indispensable. Through JPP, we have been developing an environment in which clinical, genomic, and other data distributed across medical and research institutions nationwide can be utilized safely and smoothly. With the addition of mMEDICI's concept design capabilities and PRiME-R's research support capabilities, we will reliably connect the value of this platform to implementation in research settings, contributing to the acceleration of data-driven medical research and drug development."
