Conservation Sonoma invites community members, landowners, organizations, and agency partners to join a public workshop on Monday, September 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Your participation is vital in shaping a plan that protects Sonoma County's sensitive habitats and species while balancing local priorities and needs.
Your involvement is critical to the development of a successful plan. We plan to convene broad-based planning groups, focused working groups, and provide other opportunities for focused engagement as needed to inform the process. We hope to see you at the next public workshop or at a future community event.
Conservation Sonoma is a collaboration between Permit Sonoma, the cities of Santa Rosa, Cotati, Petaluma, and the Town of Windsor to lead the planning and development of a county-wide habitat conservation plan (HCP) under Section 10 of the federal Endangered Species Act and a Natural Community Conservation Plan (NCCP) under California Fish & Game Code Section 2835 (NCCP Act). Once developed and implemented, the Sonoma County HCP/NCCP will streamline regulatory permitting under state and federal endangered species laws while implementing an on-the-ground conservation strategy for some of the County's most sensitive and unique plant and animal species and habitats.
