FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO - A draft of the next edition of the AISC Code of Standard Practice for Structural Stainless Steel Buildings (AISC 313) is now available for public review and comment.

The next edition of AISC 313 will supersede the 2021 edition.

Proposed updates to the standard include:

  • A revised treatment of the requirements for structural design documents and specifications coordinated with another standard, the AISC Specification for Structural Stainless Steel Buildings (AISC 370)
  • A clear and consistent set of requirements for backing and runoff tabs
  • A single section that combines fabrication and erection tolerances
  • Standardized terminology to match AISC 370

The draft will be available as a free download at aisc.org/publicreview between July 18 and September 1, 2025. If you'd prefer to review a hard copy, please contact Martin Downs at downs@aisc.org; there is a $35 nominal charge for printed copies.

Please submit comments using the form provided online or by email to Nathaniel Gonner (gonner@aisc.org) by September 1, 2025, for consideration.
