The 2026 EQAVET Annual Network meeting

The EQAVET Annual Network Meeting (ANM) 2026 took place in Nicosia, Cyprus) And was opened with an overview from DG EMPL on key policy developments, including a state of play of the Union of Skills one year after its launch. The Herning Declaration was highlighted as an important milestone, alongside updates on the forthcoming European VET Strategy. DG EMPL also underlined the continued priority of strengthening basic skills in VET and the role of EQAVET NRPs in supporting this work.

The ANM provided an important platform for exchange, peer learning and reflection, including in the context of the transition between grant cycles. Discussions also touched upon such as citizenship education in VET. The host country presented an overview of the VET system in Cyprus, outlining its main features, strengths and areas for further development, and highlighting the role of the Human Resource Development Authority in supporting skills development.

The programme further included updates from CEDEFOP, the ETF and participating countries on QA developments, as well as discussions on NRPs' priorities and potential areas for collaboration for the 2026-2029 period. Interactive sessions focused on stakeholder involvement, peer reviews, and the ongoing development of thematic guidance on quality assurance of basic skills in VET.
