Statement from Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle: Response to recent concerns

Statement from Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle: Response to recent concerns

October 20, 2025

You may have heard concerns over the weekend about a Halloween party I attended.

While only there 45 minutes, I've seen the comments and photos posted on social media. I want to recognize the impact the images had on the Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, and ally communities I care so deeply about. Images of individuals, one dressed as an ICE Agent and the other in what appears to be blackface are offensive, hurtful, and upsetting to say the least.

Please know that I wholeheartedly do not condone, approve of or agree with what occurred at the party and I understand the impact it has had. Moving forward, I remain committed to listening, learning, and ensuring that our spaces reflect the values we stand for.

As a resident of the city, as your mayor and as a community leader, how our community feels matters deeply to me. I take this very seriously and want you to know that my values around building relationships, maintaining trust, community safety, compassion for the communities we serve, accountability and integrity remain paramount in all that I do.

Thank you,

Anne McEnerny-Ogle
