Conclusion of market access negotiations with Ethiopia at the WTO

Brazil and Ethiopia signed yesterday (January 29), at the headquarters of the World Trade Organization (WTO), a protocol concluding the bilateral market access negotiations within the framework of the Ethiopian ongoing accession process to the Organization.

The negotiations on market access, conducted within the framework of the accession of new members to the WTO, are led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services. These negotiations offer an opportunity to agree on bound tariffs for strategic products in Brazil's trade agenda.

The signing of the protocol with Ethiopia, a member of BRICS, signals the priority given to the African continent in Brazil's foreign policy, thus contributing to the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two countries and reaffirming the importance of the multilateral trading system.
