The handover of the Japanese Counterpart Value Fund (JCVF) to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry

On Friday, November 14, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency. Sara Beysolow Nyanti officiated the completion of the handover of the Japanese Counterpart Value Fund (JCVF) Secretariat and all related documentation to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The brief ceremony was significant, as it marked the final stage of a transition process that commenced on August 14, 2025, when the operational responsibilities for managing the Japanese rice assistance program were initially transferred to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Over the preceding three months, the Ministry of Commerce has effectively managed the JCVF, with the secretariat already operational within its premises.

The event symbolized the formal transfer of all relevant documentation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Commerce. In her address, Minister Nyanti underscored that, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs retains a pivotal role in facilitating Liberia's international engagements, development partnerships, and diplomatic relations, the execution of programs is the responsibility of the corresponding sector ministries.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Madam Magdalena Dagoseh, conveyed her profound gratitude for the collaboration and trust extended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs throughout the transition period. She assured attendees that her Ministry would uphold the integrity of the program and guarantee alignment with the President's development Agenda.

The Minister of Commerce reaffirmed her Ministry's unwavering dedication to managing all foreign aid programs responsibly, ensuring alignment with national development objectives.
