The City of Sioux City would like to invite you to attend a public meeting open house to present and discuss the Undersized Watermain Replacement Project in your area. The proposed project will include the replacement/installation of watermain and water services along 48th Street from Harrison Street to Tyler Street and on Central Street from 46th Street to 48th Street.
These improvements aim to enhance water quality and flow while reducing long-term maintenance needs. Both trenching and boring methods will be used for watermain installation. New services will be installed within the public right-of-way, and any identified lead service lines will be coordinated for replacement to the house.
A public open house will be held to view construction staging plans and to discuss project components and anticipated project schedules. City staff and engineers from the design consultant team, JEO Consulting Group, and representatives from the contractor, Steve Harris Construction will be in attendance to discuss project exhibits and answer any questions.
The open house details are below:

Resident Information
Residents can expect occasional driveway access limitations during utility work and paving. Mail service and garbage collection will continue; however, temporary group mailbox placement or contractor-assisted garbage relocation may occur, depending on location.
If you have landscaping or irrigation systems within the City's right-of-way, we strongly encourage removal prior to construction. Items not removed may be cleared by the contractor, who is not responsible for any damage. This includes decorative landscaping, sprinkler systems, or ornamental mailboxes beyond standard installations.
Traffic Access & Detours
Most construction will occur outside the roadway, with only localized patches and crossings. Temporary closures will be in place during watermain installation and paving. Affected residents may need to park on nearby streets during this time.
Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible, except during direct utility work or paving. Sidewalks will remain open until removal is necessary for installation; an alternative pedestrian route will be provided if needed.
Water Service Interruptions
Planned water outages will be communicated 24 hours in advance, lasting no more than four hours. In the event of an unplanned outage or water main break, crews will work to restore service as quickly as possible. For after-hours emergencies, call (712) 279-6150.
Project Timeline
Construction Work Sequence
During active street paving, access will be restricted until concrete cures. Concrete sawing may take place during overnight hours.
